About the speakers
Ashleigh Kane is the Arts & Culture editor at Dazed. Born in Melbourne, she has been based in London since 2009 and previously worked in PR before joining the Dazed Digital team in 2013. Ashleigh is also a curator, producer, consultant and freelance writer and copywriter, and frequently shifts amongst the realms of subculture, fashion, art, music, and beauty. Selected clients include Gucci, Versus Versace, Nike, ASOS, Brick Magazine, Unseen Amsterdam, NOWNESS and Gap Jeans.
Turkina Faso is a Russian-born, London-based photographer who was recently featured in Numéro Russia‘s “Top 17 of 2017”. In 2009 Turkina graduated from the Institute of Contemporary Art in Moscow and in 2011 from the Institute of Journalism and Literature. She graduated from the MA Fashion Photography course at the London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London in 2016 with two final books. Turkina has had solo exhibitions in Moscow and has been a part of collective exhibitions in Moscow, London, New York and Milan. She has been published in Dazed Digital, Vogue Italia, Numéro Russia, Material Girl and numerous other publications.
Maria Kapajeva is an artist from Estonia who works and lives in London. She explores the problems of representation and expands the borders of photography by working with found images, video, and textile crafts. Her work has been shown internationally, including in her most recent solo exhibitions in Estonia and Poland and group shows in Belgium, the USA, Croatia, Colombia and India, and at screenings at FOKUS Video Art Festival (Denmark, 2018), NexT Film Festival (Romania, 2017) and Berlin Feminist Film Week (Germany, 2017). Last year Kapajeva was awarded the Gasworks & Triangle Network Fellowship to produce a new work in Iran.
