Celebrate the launch of The Calvert Journal’s latest photographic project at an evening of art, music, food and drink from East Asia.
Go East is a special report of new travel photography – taken in locales from Japan to Myanmar, South Korea to China and beyond – by photographers from all over the New East.
Join us to preview stunning photo stories, as well as new video work by Nat Urazmetova, while you enjoy sparkling sake, beer and plum wine and dance to special playlists curated by Kenichi Iwasa of XAVIERS and artist Ekaterina Bazhenova-Yamasaki.
You can also grab dinner with Japanese noodle masters Akihide Monna of Bo Ningen and Kenichi Iwasa, who will teach you how to catch traditional nagashi-sōmen (flowing noodles) with chopsticks from a bamboo slide, specially built by Mill & Jones in collaboration with Tai Pham, Federica Ranalli and Cass Works.
Sparkling sake provided by Mio Sparkling Sake.
About the Go East project
Can a camera bring us closer to another culture or does it hold a mirror to ourselves? From the cutting-edge capital of South Korea to a Buddhist retreat in the Myanmar mountains, meet the photographers who have travelled beyond the New East into East Asia.
Check out the preview of the project in The Calvert Journal here before it goes live on 10 August.
